Schwarzköpfe (Alepocephalidae) sind Tiefseefische aus der Ordnung der Goldlachsartigen (Argentiniformes). Sie leben im östlichen Atlantik, dem Mittelmeer, dem westlichen Indischen Ozean und im Pazifik meist in Tiefen von 300 bis 2000 Meter.

Merkmale

Sie haben einen schlanken Körper und werden 14 Zentimeter bis einen Meter lang. Ihr Kopf ist schuppenlos, viele Arten haben auch einen schuppenlosen Rumpf. Die Zähne sind normalerweise klein. Die Brustflossen werden von 7 bis 18 Flossenstrahlen gestützt. Die Fische sind meist schwarz und haben Leuchtorgane. Andere Arten sind hellblau.
