This site has been dated to the Late Pliocene or Early Pleistocene by many different authors. There is a suggestion in this paper that there may be a mix of faunas from both time periods at this site, particularly based on the presence of Hippopotamus. Villanyian, Villafranchian. | This paper contains a revised faunal list. Where the information is available the previous identification of the specimens has also been entered. Earlier reports of Equus stenonis or Hipparion from the site are likely to be due to poorly provenanced specimens in museum collections, later excavations have not recovered any specimens and the authors therefore did not include these identfications in this list. Four specimens in Bale Museum are marked as bovid, (2 phalanges, a calcaneum and a maxilla fragemnt) but are again poorly provenanced. |

Early Middle Pleistocene (roughly 0.8-0.7Ma), but originally (in this paper), described as Late Pliocene). | Virtually all faunal assignments in this paper are wrong. See individual beds (A-H) entered as subsets of this one for the full (taxonomically up-to-date) faunal list. |
